2022-23 Living Wage rates announced 22nd September

With UK inflation hitting double figures this month, reaching the highest level in four decades, everyone is feeling the pressure, but we know low-paid workers will be hit harder than most. As living costs soar, the movement for a real Living Wage is more important than ever.

This year, in response to rapidly increasing living costs, the Living Wage Foundation is bringing forward the announcement of the new real Living Wage rates to 22 September.

By bringing forward the announcement, it is hoped that Living Wage Employers can implement the new rates as soon as possible to best support their employees in the tough times ahead. However, we understand that this is a difficult time for everyone and employers will have until May 2023 to implement the new rate.

On Thursday 29 September, following the announcement of the new rate, the LWF is holding a Living Wage Employer webinar for accredited Living Wage Employers. This will explain how the rates are calculated, tell you how you can access support from the Living Wage team if you need it, and provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have. Sign up to attend now.

This cost-of-living crisis has rightly shone a spotlight on the Living Wage as a vital lifeline for workers and their families. We are experiencing record-breaking growth with over 450 employers in Wales who recognise that the Living Wage doesn’t only provide workers and families with security, it helps businesses with recruitment and retention of employees and creating a happy, productive workforce too.
