Since the introduction of auto enrolment nearly ten years ago, 10.2 million people have started saving for their retirement, but the latest figures show that 2.1 million (18 per cent) of pensioners in the UK live in poverty. Earlier this year, the Resolution Foundation published a report on the feasibility of a pension savings target, making the case for a Living Pension benchmark using the same principles as the Living Wage.
To support this work, the Living Wage Foundation wants to gather insight and feedback from employers, as well as talking to employees and pensioners. Over the next year we will bring together a set of recommendations based on these insights for how we might deliver a Living Pension accreditation following a pilot programme in 2022. If you can help us by completing a short follow up survey on this we would very much appreciate it.
