Living Wage Buildings
Living Wage Buildings are buildings with multiple business tenants, all of whom pay the real Living Wage to their employees and contractors. There are currently two Living Wage Buildings in Wales sparc | spark and the PHG consulting offices.
Cardiff University’s sbarc | spark became Wales’ first Living Wage building, accredited in June 2021.
Sbarc | spark is home to SPARK, the Social Science Research Park, where 400 researchers share their collective expertise to solve societal challenges, and Cardiffinnovations@sbarc, the University’s centre for start-ups, spinouts and enterprise.

“Sbarc | spark’s accreditation as a Living Wage Building exemplifies our research ambitions to address issues of social injustice. The Living Wage is already a focus of the University’s research. For example, Cardiff Business School academics have studied the motivations of organisations to become a Living Wage employer, how accreditation has changed their reputation and relationships, and how it has improved employee recruitment and retention.”
